Pretty good, just change your class name from fort to Main for it to run in the compiler, otherwise declare a file named fort.java.
Java is a low level, statically typed, object-oriented language primarily used for backend applications. Although it doesn't work as closely with computer hardware as C/C++ or Assembly, it's still fairly versatile and can be compiled on numerous devices enabled by the JVM (Java virtual machine) and JRE (Java Runtime Environment).

Have you considered using a GUI to display some of your projects/games? That would be pretty cool if a bit tricky.

@08KINPLIX I know how to utilize action listeners such as keypresses from the user to move whatever is on screen. I assume you want the steve avatar to only move up and down in response to player input?

@DeaconBurgess I'm glad you enjoyed it! And yes, its possible to make any good game with java if you know what you're doing and have the patients to undertake such a project (Not that I'm ready for that).
