@MrEconomical I thought that was what the error meant however I wasn't trying to do that.

That part of the code is meant to iterate through the data frame and check if the cell below it is empty and if it is replaces the cell in runsDF with the corresponding one in the hid_runsDF.

@Highwayman Well I play 5th but I'm not sure that the edition determines how you roll stats only class and racial bonuses.

@Highwayman I was considering doing this but I'd need a way of letting the user assigning the stats and for choosing which row, column or diagonal they want in the 3*36 method and I can't see a way of doing that that's user friendly.

This doesn't seem to display anything other than the two input numbers, and I'm still not sure why what I had doesn't work.
