How do I create a GUI in Java using this website?

If you would like to come back as of yesterday repl.it introduced Java Swing capabilities. When you go to select your language choose "Java Swing," instead of "Java."

Java isn't working, why?

For Swing they implemented Java Swing as a language; it is separate from standard Java. Here you can program in a windowed environment.

https://repl.it/@Zeune/testing-project here is the project fixed

One thing I did change was the method type from int to void because void is used when we are not returning a value.

void literally means nothing. It is usually used as a function or method return type, when the function isn't supposed to return anything. In the second method you typed out, with the void keyword, it is setting a value, and nothing needs to be returned.

@PhilAnderson They have been added. You can choose to program in the Java Swing language when you go to create a new project.

Java isn't working, why?
posted to Ask by Stanlyhalo

@Stanlyhalo So a few issues with the code, and once you get it setup you will run into an X11 Display error. Currently in your project you do not have a class called Game.java and you are trying to reference your constructor called Game.java inside of Main. That needs to be changed. Then, you will come into other errors for using the this reference object when there is nothing to.

Also, to answer your question about it is already a window. It's a window that is above the console it's built into the environment so you won't be able to click and drag it around. Resizing seems to be hit and miss as well. Honestly, I set my project up but, without being able to say obj.add(comp) I am struggling figuring out the project setup for Java Swing on repl.it

If it was a project made by your friend who shared multiplayer with you, it is possible to fork the project so you can have your own copy.

At this time I do not have an answer for you on c++ webscrapig but I did make the Jsoup webscrapping library available to use on Repl.it in Java. Very easy to use. Perhaps you could expand on what you need scraped and I will attempt to get you going in the right direction.

Code that is written into the browser should be using the code tag `

If you are having trouble figuring out the tag you can click the Markdown hyperlink to open a new tab with the different commands or you can link your project. As well as to please post the error.

@ItsEmpCs Do you have a particular question you are needing assistance with? Most languages it's just minor syntax differences so most people should be able to get you going in the right direction. Please feel free to post on here and we will do your best to assist you.

I feel the same about Java, but all languages are utilized. Perhaps part of the problem is we do not have a large enough community that when Repl.it users go to the the talk section it's not designed as a forum such as DIC (DreamInCode) or SO (StackOverflow). So most the users that post here are beginners that are being introduced to programming and Python as well as Javascript's Node.js are very popular languages / libraries to use as first time developers. Simple and easy to learn with a lot of documentation for people with questions or that need assistance.

With the ability to save progress, are you doing this locally or on the cloud? If you are doing locally how? Because I have attempted to write local data from the repl.it servers before but, couldn't get past getting the systems name because it would always return the server name... This was in Java though and NOT C#.

Please post the language that you are trying to do this in.

Vandesm14's answer would work if you wrote a script to react for the button to take you to a new webpage. If you are in Java you would write an actionListener, otherwise we will need more information to assist you.

Make your other html page that you want to refer to. Then, use this code

<a href ="test.html">Hello World</a>

replace "test.html" with your file and then you can also replace "Hello World" with the link text.
