Javascript. You can use technically build high quality websites using only javascript, as well you can use node, react, vue, angular, api's, etc which all have many different capabilities, making JS the most versatile language out there.

How can I stop nodejs?

If changing the port isn’t working, press ctrl-shift-P to open the little repl menu, then select open shell. You now get access to the Linux file system and command line. You will then be able to use any non-superuser method to stop the server.

@TimothyAnderso1 I agree. While PlayCanvas is great, it basically allows you to design all your assets right there and they are just automatically brought into the game. It's cool and all, but not really the concept of the jam.

@Lamby777 thank you so much! We (as in me and my friend) are currently fixing up the engine, and then we'll do the battle engine. Those are the main parts of the game, so after that we'll consider adding multiple Pokémon. You will likely be able to choose from basic forms, such as Growlithe, Wooper, etc.

@doughnutlover Yes, i put that in the overlay that comes up. I have not finished the battle yet, so you will just see a black screen. You can reload the game to go back to the overworld.
