How Did YOU Find Repl.it
PYer (2308)

Repl.it is one of many online coding platforms. How did you find this one? Did you do a google search? A friend? Why did you choose Repl.it over the many others that exist out there. Currently repl.it is one of the most popular. I will say that if i google's filtering and searching system were different, i wouldn't have found it. I found Repl.it with online python3. Comment below your own story!

Reasons so far:

  • Coding on multiple computers
  • Learning at school
  • Looking for better online compilers/interpreters
  • Searching on google for online <coding language>
  • Friends
  • Coding in school without downloading interpreters/compilers
  • Making games that wouldn't work on normal compilers/interpreters
  • Entering competitions that require repl.it
  • Storing code online. To show other people, or other uses

It's really cool to see how other people found repl.it. If I had been told to list as many reasons as I could, I would have gone with Bullet 1, Bullet 2, Bullet 3, and maybe Bullet 5.

I found it trying to find a host for discord bots that could play music. Although I was let down by repl.it too, I loved the community and chose to stick around.

PYer (2308)

@TheDrone7 I can't play music with discord bots either. Plus, I only learnt about discord bots until after the bot competition. When did you join repl.it?

TheDrone7 (549)

@PYer I don't remember exactly, also my old account has been deleted, so I doubt anyone would be able to tell, but iirc, it was around October 2018. Also you won't be able to play music in discord bots in whichever language u use(python, you're PYer after all) because repl.it doesn't support opus which is one of the important requirements.

PYer (2308)

@TheDrone7 Yeah. I wish repl.it would support those needed modules. I used to have an old account to, but I deleted it later and created this one.

amasad (1374)

@PYer Which modules? Happy to look into it :)

TheDrone7 (549)

@amasad opus is all I remember, I did make a comment on that missing modules post by Tim. You might find more details there.

amasad (1374)

@TheDrone7 it seems like the opus package is not maintained (not sure if it ever worked) but there are alternatives. Since the comment thread about missing modules we have fixed things up quite a bit. Let me know if you try again and need help.

PYer (2308)

@amasad There also seems to be something called PyNcal or something. I can check later

@TheDrone7 Music and sound coming soon #planned

TheDrone7 (549)

@hayaodeh that's great, but that won't really matter in the case of discord bots.

PYer (2308)

@TheDrone7 Agreed. I would like the discord bots to be able to play the music. But there are some things I would like. Taking input from the mic in python would be really cool.

TheDrone7 (549)

@PYer that would be cool but that's advanced stuff I can't do. (for now at least)

@TheDrone7 i read tutorials, but cant do it on repl.it. I was going to use it for a chatbot
