Over half of my files just disappeared.
TamingTheTech (14)

I was working on my biggest HTML CSS JS project last night and all of a sudden every file alphabetically higher than "i" disappeared. It looks like this happened to at least one other person. https://twitter.com/l3landus/status/1213469109490507776

I took the system for granted and hadn't backed anything up in a long time, and it's a devastating loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@TamingTheTech terribly sorry -- this is incredibly important for us and we'll make sure we fix it.

Meanwhile, I can possibly restore your files. Do you remember what are the name of the files?

TamingTheTech (14)

@amasad Thanks! Here's what I can remember:
themes.js
themes.css
stuff.js
style.css
signIn.js
script.js
world-landing2.html
world-landing.html
worldLanding.js
my-worlds.html
myWorlds.js (?)
world-landing.html
world-landing2.html
worldLanding.js
live.html
live.js
new-world.html
new-world2.html
newWorld.js
settings.html
settings.js
inhab-landing.html
inhabLanding.js
wlCreateAndDist.js (or something like that...)
wl...js (there's another one that starts with "wl" but I can't remember what it is)

Thanks again for your help!

Adam

@TamingTheTech Adam, I've restored all your files for you. Some that I restored might have been intentionally delete it but I decided to just err on the side of safety.

We also think that we found the underlying issue and fixed it.

Please accept my apology and I hope you understand that this is a fluke and know that we take data integrity very seriously.

@amasad I can't tell you how happy I am! Thank you so much for looking into this and fixing it. It's back to where it was for sure! I totally understand how these things happen, I'm just glad that you were able to get everything back.

Thanks again!

@TamingTheTech In the future, I would recommend using repl.it github integration feature and to regularly push to github.

Hmmm... Maybe the files took up too much data and Repl.it (or you computer) decided to delete it?

same issue here, I just start to test repl.it and my first test files just disappeared after last night..

Yesterday I created 6 java files and I open today to only see that they are disappeared. Very disaapointed.

Thats very sad but good thing you got it all;back

TamingTheTech (14)

@UncleSamIs234 It all worked out. @amasad was awesome and helped me get my files back on a Sunday night. Very cool!

unrelated but nice project. Creating a world throws an error though

@TaylorLiang Thanks for pointing that out. I'll fix it this evening. I haven't had the chance to go back through it and fix the changes that happened when the files were disconnected. I'll get that all fixed up soon! And thanks for the positive comments! Any advice or suggestions are always welcome.
