I've seen a couple of posts around here where people are asking what they should work on next. Let's use this space to brainstorm some cool projects.
An idea I've had in my Notes for a while is a tool (probably a browser extension?) that tracks how much distance you've scrolled! It could calculate fun facts like, "you've scrolled the equivalent of a 5k" or "x% of your scrolling is on Twitter"
@katavie Hmm.. Maybe that could be a mouse attachment as well.. That way, we could have a dot that would be applied to the mouse, and there could be a sensor in the mouse. Then, the sensor would transmit the data (How many times the dot was picked up by the sensor) into a file, and that could be converted using a simple multiplication function. The function would probably have it so that the circumference of the wheel is multiplied by the amount of times that the dot is picked up. That would give us a rough estimate of how far you've scrolled using the mouse wheel. The other thing we could do, is make a program that will read the resolution of your screen, convert that into a metric measurement (I forget if those two correspond), then see how much the scroll scrolls. Another program would count that amount and place it into a text document, or if you wanted to be fancy, an HTML file with a bit more graphics and confetti gifs.
Do I talk too much?
