programming jam
HackerSK (9)

Heeeeeeello! I am posting this because I have a question about the programming jam that is happening this month. I want to make a language too, but I have no idea how to post the language. Like, am I supposed to make a game out of my language? or like write

example:
console.log('') = printOut,

or just write the idea down? Thank you for your time, and pls help.

*edit

Will the judges understand the code that I made a game with? And also, if this is like a new code, wont the computer get errors cause it does not understand the code?
And for peoples reading this and are doing/have made a language before, can you show me the picture of the code/help me make my code?

OK so regarding the language jam to register and all the info is here:
https://repl.it/talk/announcements/Programming-Language-Jam-Let-the-hacking-begin/49105

To make a language these websites will help and guide you:
https://www.freecodecamp.org/news/the-programming-language-pipeline-91d3f449c919/

and

https://tomassetti.me/how-to-create-programming-language/

and

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSwITbXRe8M

These are the ones I used so it works and explains well! Please mark this as correct if it answered your question!
Plus you need to make a team and work together as a friend. If you don't have either you can go to the discord and they will match you up with someone.

Sorry about the delay and have a great day PRO CODER ;)

Coder100 (10769)

he's asking how he should post it, not how to make it. @JosephSanthosh

JosephSanthosh (1194)

@Coder100 Not only that she/he asked how it is made 'like a game out of my language?'. This could possibly mean he/she doesn't know how it should be displayed which is what he links also explain. Listen carefully nextime. :)

Coder100 (10769)

no, the links only say how to participate and the requirements for the language, it does not specifically say how or where it should be posted. @JosephSanthosh

Coder100 (10769)

perhaps you need to read the content of the links and what they are asking?
He's asking for the content of the post, you are telling him how to sign up for the lang jam :/
@JosephSanthosh

JosephSanthosh (1194)

@HackerSK Oh yeah all the important information is in this website : https://blog.repl.it/langjam Please mark this as correct if it answered your question!

JosephSanthosh (1194)

@Coder100 They show examples on how to make a language, so that already answers his/her question. He/she can just use that example of displaying the end result which is literally the whole thing of the language jam. The language jam consists of making the language, testing it, and displaying it, all of which are in the links. Why are you telling me to look in the contents when I'm making my language based on it (so obviously I read it). Plus I put the extra info to help he/she with registering which is normally very confusing and has been asked.

JosephSanthosh (1194)

@Coder100 Can we please not argue, it doesn't express or display and form of moral values? Next-time read carefully also. :)

Coder100 (10769)

well, im not going to waste my time and argue with someone who clearly doesn't want to express their mistakes and clearly has not given the time to read the question clearly stating "but how do I post this language?" Have they said anything about how to make the language? No, they are just asking the medium of which they should post their language.

Next time research before making your rebuttals @JosephSanthosh

HahaYes (1250)

@JosephSanthosh Moral Values? That nothing. You are blatant cycle farming and we odn't do that here.

HackerSK (9)

@JosephSanthosh thank you very much! I was so worried about this, and this helped me a lot. Thank you for your answer

JosephSanthosh (1194)

@HackerSK I'm happy to hear that, have a great day and fun coding! :)

JosephSanthosh (1194)

@HahaYes WHICH PART OF ME NOT WANTING TO ARGUE HAS GOT ANYTHING TO DO WITH CYCLE-FARMING. What are you even saying??? I don't want to fight and argue and that's got nothing to do with cycle farming. He criticised me first and I was defending myself and my point! Get yourselves together and stop targetting!!! @Coder100

Coder100 (10769)

i think you should calm down, we are just being rational here with you @JosephSanthosh

JosephSanthosh (1194)

@Coder100 I think you should both stop talking! I came here to help someone who needed help not cycle farm!

I'M NOT CYCLE FARMING FOR THE LAST TIME @HahaYes YOU DID THIS 6 TIMES TO ME AND I'M SICK OF IT!

Coder100 (10769)

well then, why did you say "please mark as correct answer", you know very well that you should never do that until they acknowledge your answer @JosephSanthosh

HackerSK (9)

Everyone, pls stop fighting. I have only asked a question I have never asked a arguement

JosephSanthosh (1194)

@HackerSK So sorry to bring this disturbance upon you!

Zavexeon (1051)

@HackerSK @Coder100 @HahaYes @JosephSantosh Everyone calm down. Hey, Joseph, it's usually not good practice to ask others to mark your answer as correct if it helps (it's frowned upon by the community). It's still within the rules, and if you wish to do so, then you can continue. I can't guarantee you won't get backlash for it though.

JosephSanthosh (1194)

@Zavexeon Thank you and I'll take note of that

JosephSanthosh (1194)

@HackerSK So sorry and thank you once again!

HackerSK (9)

@JosephSanthosh also have you made a language before? Cause if you have, can you tell me how to make one, or show me a picture?

JosephSanthosh (1194)

@HackerSK No and Yes! I had started a language but then I had used up all my data and so I just gave up and deleted half my repls. I'M SO SORRY!I know many people who can help you with this! @Bookie0 @Lethdev2019 Could you assist @HackerSK with the following questions as you both are making languages ?
Hope this will help you :) sry once again

Bookie0 (4537)

@JosephSanthosh i am not making a language (why did you think lol) so i can not help you sadly good luck tho ;)

HackerSK (9)

@JosephSanthosh thank you so much again! Also don’t be sorry. You helped me a lot^^

JosephSanthosh (1194)

@HackerSK Your most welcome. Whenever you need help with anything ping me! Have a great Pro-Coder :)

HackerSK (9)

@JosephSanthosh thank you again and again^^

Lethdev2019 (200)

@JosephSanthosh Well, I could, if @HackerSK wants me to. I am doing one called "Slice" which will take me a long time but multitasking is a useful tool.

Lethdev2019 (200)

@HackerSK Also, there is a python tutorial in making a programming language. It is buried deep but I bookmarked it.

https://repl.it/talk/learn/How-to-make-a-Programming-Language-in-Python-from-Scratch-A-Basic-Language/48223

Lethdev2019 (200)

I just shared you the project "Slice" so you can see what you can do with the tutorial. @HackerSK

Lethdev2019 (200)

it is usually called "favourites" @JosephSanthosh

Lethdev2019 (200)

click on the star button. And you use CTRL + B to access them. (If it is a Chromium browser, use CTRL + SHIFT + B. @JosephSanthosh

JosephSanthosh (1194)

@Lethdev2019 @HackerSK If you want to learn Python 3 Pygame and Python(with turtle) you can join my tutorial center, do you want to?

Lethdev2019 (200)

in or near the URL Input (in chrome, it is inside, usually). @JosephSanthosh

HackerSK (9)

@Lethdev2019 I have received your invitation, and I love it, but I think that is python, and I, unfortunately, use JavaScript. But thank you for your support^^

JosephSanthosh (1194)

@HackerSK If you are interested in learning Python would you like to be invited to my tutorial center here in Repl.it? If so just tell me :)

HackerSK (9)

@JosephSanthosh sure. I have learned python loooooooong time ago, and I really liked it. It was at least easier then node.js^^

OperationDemon (38)

@JosephSanthosh damn someone is thirsty for them cycles. "These are the ones I used so it works and explains well! Please mark this as correct if it answered your question!"

OperationDemon (38)

@JosephSanthosh stop asking to mark as correct answer because you want virtual "cycles" that give u ur virtual fame

JosephSanthosh (1194)

u virtual demon, u only 4 months late. now how about u keep ur little baby mouth closed and go home, ok baby demon? dont cry dont cry @OperationDemon

Coder100 (10769)

Hi, you have to make sure it is working using either something like ohm, yacc (iirc thats the name), or hand-writing it yourself (I'm doing this!).

So, that means, in your post, you are free to do whatever you want with your language! I would suggest fibonacci, it really shows turing completeness (which is recommended), but a game is just fine.

HackerSK (9)

@Coder100 hello coder100, I really love your answer but what do you mean by hand writing it yourself and the ohm?

Coder100 (10769)

oh, those are resources to do it @HackerSK

HackerSK (9)

@Coder100 can you give me a website example?

CodeLongAndPros (1468)

@Coder100 IR it’s BISON under GNU,
ICRC there’s no diff

JosephSanthosh (1194)

Same question here mate?

CoolJames1610 (645)

read this
You are required to build ur own language using lexers and parsers and stuff. Search google i f you need help :)

HackerSK (9)

please answer this. I rly need help. I am going to work with my friend, but we can't because I have no idea how to.
