⛈Brainstorm ⛈What should we code?
katyadee (1214)

The last time I had one of these threads, we got a lot of cool answers. So... let's kick this off again! What should we code? What should I, Katya, code?

ReshiramWolfu (82)

A live Chat system with rooms for roleplaying, general repl chat and other

Vandesm14 (2319)

@ReshiramWolfu Two options. I setup a chatting system I've been working on and post it to repl Share (and we can use that) or could setup an IRC server and we can create our own channels!, please do the second one!

ebest (639)

@Vandesm14 Yis
How popular are chat servers?
I made one, you are making one, gamemaster made one, pyalias made one.

Vandesm14 (2319)

@ebest They are pretty popular. I mean, Discord is a thing. They're pretty fun to make as well.

Vandesm14 (2319)

@ebest A Popular Chatting Application. Text, Voice, and Video capabilities.

ebest (639)

@Vandesm14 I can't use it (blocked). That's motivation for some.

MEMELORDReaper (0)

@ReshiramWolfu That Would be sick!!!!!!
(also hi I'm new around here.)

ebest (639)

If you have access to's code, can you add signatures to posts and comments? Like mine? (-Ebest) Also, can you add a few buttons on the comments and posts sections on the profile page so you can see the posts/comments in the order of how new they are instead of how many cycles they have?

ebest (639)

A chat! For people who can't use discord but still want to be moderators (Ebest, mkhoi, and 300 others)!

Can I please please please me a moderator?

ebest (639)

@ebest Everyone who doesn't have discord can't be a moderator. That's mean.

ArineeC (4)

A programing site for beginners!!! 😀😀😀

ebest (639)

My eye has wandered to the url and found INTERESTING things.

That's a lot of thunder-cloud-and-rain! Write something with thunder-cloud-and-rain in it.

katyadee (1214)

@ebest You know, that's a really great idea. Like having the prompt be emoji titles?

ebest (639)

@katyadee Is there a way to add emojis to python? If so, tell me.

zhidao (14) should add a way for you to check how many people has visted your website and who has visted your website.

@DJWang already done

avibeskrowni (132)

What if... made a code to give you ideas for a code?
...a site where you can select images and throw them around? (something that I've wanted to do for a while)

ryanhcode (89)

Along with @ReshiramWulfu and @ebest I’d like to see a live chat on for people who can’t use discord. If anyone wants to start this hit me up and I have a few programs that put together a basic chat system. We can build among this, and I believe form a pretty great project!

ebest (639)

@ryanhcode I made one using Python. Go get @GameMaster1928 for his.

Mine is here

Aha! Gamemaster's is here

ryanhcode (89)

@ebest I like the look of them but I feel they could be expanded upon in a different way. If you want to use yours, we can use flask or another app to improve the looks, and have different rooms and users. If you’d like to see the look I’m going for then I can send you a link

ebest (639)

@ryanhcode Are you asking for auto-adding users (I can do that with json store)? I already have different rooms and admins. I'm stuck because I don't know what more to add.

ryanhcode (89)

@ebest I mean incorporating a user system, so whoever you are logged in as on would be your username, ect.

ebest (639)

@ryanhcode that can't be done right now unless it was directly connected to So only staff members can do it, and it'll have to be a feature of, not a repl, because repls aren't the most secure things.

I asked for something like this before.

ryanhcode (89)

@ebest I know, but having a user system that goes along with would be nice. Users could create an account and you could store the data with jsonstore. Usernames, passwords, and profile pictures would probably be necessary. Otherwise, I think what you’ve got is great!

Edit: I also think that incorporating flask would be necessary to give it a good look

ebest (639)

@ryanhcode That would be great! I don't know how to use flask. Can you give me something that uses flask? What's the difference? Also, on the profile pictures part, do you know any way to display pictures on the console?

ryanhcode (89)

@ebest I can help a little if you’d like

ebest (639)

@ryanhcode how would flask change it?

ryanhcode (89)

@ebest Flask will give it an HTML page to display the messages

ebest (639)

@ryanhcode The only languages I know are Python and a little Java. I can't really do html

ebest (639)

@ryanhcode send me the link that has "look I’m going for"

ryanhcode (89)

@ebest you don’t have to know HTML. I can do that part and the flask. You just need to make the python functionality, which you already have.

Helixable (7)

@ryanhcode @ebest Hey guys! I can help with the HTML, Javascript, CSS, and Python! I'm fluent in all of those languages! Can you email me if you're still interested? [email protected]

zhidao (14)

@ebest how do you fork it?

HazTheWaz (192)

something that helps schools/companies keep data secure by not including everyone in one email...
I'm not mad I swear

katyadee (1214)

@HazTheWaz What happened? Lol. I'd love to hear the story behind this.

HazTheWaz (192)

@katyadee So I'm going to a new school, which is an IT/Chem oriented school and they needed our basic info (phone, email, etc.). Today they mail us some schedules about when we need to get the books and i notice that it wasn't sent to "me" but my whole class. I'm kinda nervous about what they'll teach us there now, because this is not how one should handle sensitive user data.

katyadee (1214)

@HazTheWaz If it helps, usually administration and teachers are so silo'd, it probably has no indication on the actual curriculum.

HazTheWaz (192)

@katyadee nope, it was literally just
From: [school]
To: 33 email addresses

E: and it probably has nothing to do with it, but still gonna BOLO

katyadee (1214)

@HazTheWaz Oh come on, it's only 33. :P

HazTheWaz (192)

@katyadee well, i mean that is still better than the entire school

katyadee (1214)

@ebest Hey, 33 people isn't too bad.

EthanJustice (26)

@katyadee Depends on the context. Emails, no. Errors, yes.

ebest (639)

@katyadee Well, yeah, neither is

people = 33*10000000000
katyadee (1214)

@ebest I don't get it, friend.

ebest (639)

33 = more then 5.

5 = a lot.

33 = a lot.

33*10000000000 = more then 5.

33*10000000000 = a lot.

a lot = a lot.

33*10000000000 = 33

I wish Repl was able to use PHP and MySQL so I could make a more dynamic webpage with a login and register system ._.

Highwayman (1341)

@JordanDixon1 you have both SQLite and PHP, would it still work with the SQLite? I’m guessing not really?

JordanDixon1 (324)

@Highwayman I'm not sure. I have NO experiance with databases X3

Highwayman (1341)

@JordanDixon1 well then I guess the only way to find out is to try it out! :) maybe take them for a spin!

JordanDixon1 (324)

@Highwayman I need a little help with it though. I have never use SQLite (or any database)

Highwayman (1341)

@JordanDixon1 honestly I only used it like once for 2 seconds, I don’t even know 99% of the syntax. Probably just look up a tutorial?
