A Satirical Tutorial
Hello people this tutorial will cover all the basics and some advanced techniques on how to get easy upvotes on your share posts.
(Please note that this is a satire and not meant to offend or downplay people and their creations)
Background Information
Basically the Share forum of Repl.it is a lot of spam, but sometimes you'll find something good. But what makes it worthy of being noticed? Is it high-effort? or is it the type of project? Well that's what this tutorial is about!
Also, why should I care about upvotes? Well they get you cycles, useless internet points that only people who don't have meaningful things to do try and obtain. Now on that note, onto the tutorial!
Please note that all this information is based on facts and statistics, not just senseless conjuring!
What Language Should I Be Using?
Well based on simply scrolling through the top posts in Repl Share, you can see that Python is the language that gets that most upvotes!
But why is that, well a couple reasons:
- Most people on Repl.it learn Python or are learning Python, so most of your audience doesn't care much for C++ Repls, or Ruby Repls, or PHP Repls.
- Python is the easiest language, and arguable the most widely taught language
So Step 1, make a Python Repl Project! Onwards.
Okay, Now What Do I Make?
Using more current data, posts that easily get upvotes aren't ones that have real utility (such as a Repl.it User Searchbar), but instead console games! All your popular posts are easily created, low-effort, console games.
It's pretty easy to create these, simple nest if statements like so:

This of course will only get you an easy 5 or 6 upvotes, to get 100+ you need to add console colors, you should add a good story, and of course you should have ASCII art. A combination of this and less than a day's worth of work will get you on the path to 100+ upvotes.
Your best friend here is current trends. Making a console "simulator" or console "test" that relates to something relevant and popular will get you instant upvotes! Also, be sure to plagarise popular code to make projects that are out of your league. Please don't plagarise projects. Plagarisim is a serious problem that will be dealt with severely.
So Step 2, make an if-else console game, using some simple techniques! Onwards.
Alright, I'm Ready for Posting, What Do I Do?
You my friend are on the last step to getting 100+ upvotes. Now let me give you some pointers:
- Use Markdown
- Beg for Upvotes
- Use screenshots of your game and random memes
- Bad grammar
- Make it sound better than it is
- Talk for longer than needed
- Ping Random people
- Say it’s your best game
And that's all you need to do! Very simple, and remember nobody will look at your post but in case they do it should look good enough to fool the mods into not taking your post down for spam!
So Step 3, create a post that is very click-baity! Onwards.

About this Post
This wasn't made to offend anyone, neither was it made to downplay some amazing Python projects, simply to show how flawed the Repl Share system is and how projects that have actual meaning are never fully appreciated. People put lots of work into projects, and when they choose to share them please give them the attention they deserve.
Doing everything in this tutorial won't get you 100+ upvotes, but there are several parts of this tutorial that do have real proof and have real effects.

Repl.it should add a page called High-Effort, and moderators move things that are high effort into there (tutorials, templates, share posts, etc;) and then the High-Effort gets on the Trending page, while the moderators have to search for very low-effort posts. Maybe a new role called Helper that they can help the mods with finding low-effort posts.
