I did this also, my old name included some personal info, and now if you go to something like https://repl.it/@NoelBryan it redirects to my new profile. If you visit any of my repls with the old link, it will redirect to the new link. Both the new link and the old link work fine. Basically, some things are a bit strange when changing the username but it works.
