You work HARD on your new idle game!
Then, after some time, you post it on repl.it!
However, nobody upvotes your post.
And, you have promised your friend you will get to 100 cycles today! You are at 90 and desperately need 10 to get those $10!
Using this hacky method made by @coder100 You can get 10 upvotes per click! The website is also loaded with very helpful FAQs.
Don't let the mods see!
If the mods see, we won't be able to use this hacky method anymore :(
Cycles may not be the most interesting thing on repl.it, but that will soon change. According to @mat1, a local repl.it moderator, Cycles will be used soon to be made into a priceless currency to buy faster-compiling machines for a better experience on repl.it! Better stock up on cycles soon :)
Did you know: repl.it uses graphQL
That's a ridiculous amount of work for such a simple project. Good job, you should end up getting get some free cycles.
I don't even want free cycles, I just wanted to see the bait. It's funny you say you're going to report us, even though you should be banned for the many times you have made cycle farming posts and pointless 1 line things to get free cycles.
@3465728974563 Actually unfunny joke posts usually get more cycles than actual work, sometimes hundreds. Let me show you.
Low effort single line
print(eval(input())) with 88 cycles. People still defend these by saying exactly what you just said.
Actual interpreter with no external dependencies and a hand-written parser, supports variables, tables, functions and while loops. 12 cycles.
the common repl.it upvotes problem.
I personally think that this is because repl.it is not developed enough as a community to really react to spam. Give something like StackOverflow. If you post some funny answer, it will most likely get a lot of downvotes and get removed, because it probably has happened before. @CSharpIsGud
print(eval(input())) is not funny. this isn't a joke forum, if you want jokes go to reddit instead of flooding repl talk with these very bad jokes. the actual projects being shared get pushed down every time a joke post is uploaded. none of those joke posts were actually funny at all Tell me how "python3 interpreter" is constructive in any way, but if I made an actual python interpreter it would basically just be ignored
@CSharpIsGud Yes, you want to know why the projects are pushed down by the jokes? Because people enjoy the jokes. The projects only appeal to certain people, while the jokes everyone can enjoy. Sure the project has more effort put into it, but the jokes can make someone laugh and have a good time as well.
@CSharpIsGud 1st: It's not one line and although the coding is quite simple, not everyone can do it. 2nd: It is actually a joke because if you read the comments you can see that people found it as funny. 3rd: Stop being a whiny brat that takes everything so seriously and just take a joke for what it is. Sure maybe it didn't deserve the amount of publicity that it got whenever it comes to the amount of effort put into it but that's not what matters because it was meant to be for laughs. 4th: Why do you care so much? It's just a joke and you shouldn't get so mad over something like it. It was harmless. I put a lot of effort into things that I make and I don't care about how many upvotes it gets because it doesn't matter. You are sharing something you are proud of, and maybe not everyone will agree with it. Here's an example: https://repl.it/@3465728974563/Chess-Clicker-1 ,I put a lot of effort into it and I hardly got any publicity when I made a post about it, but I don' care because it doesn't matter. 5th: If you really wanted to complain about it getting more than it deserves then why don't you talk to a moderator about it?
@3465728974563 It really does matter when instead of an html5 game you are making something I don't know, in assembly or something, takes you like a month to fix a small problem then you decide to post it here.
Then that sarcastic post over there titles itself
COOL PROJECT and gets many many cycles.
You say "wow this sounds like a cool project" and open it.
coolest project ever lol +1 if you liked
Im sure you can see how this can annoy people who only post once in a blue moon because most of their projects take that long to finish
Hey, @CSharpIsGud and @3465728974563! I was checking out @Coder100 's profile, and I came across this. Reading the comments, there seemed to have been a debate here. 1) What I would recommend, is maybe bring it up to the moderators next time you see something like that. 2) The only problem is, that most people enjoy things that are creative, or funny. 3) I agree with both sides of this argument. The first time a
print(eval(input())) was posted, it was a cool thing! When people repeatedly attempt to gather cycles from the same thing, it definetely gets annoying though. 4) Just remember, that if you make something that others would find funny or creative, it would probably amount to more cycles 5) Being able to create something complicated doesn't mean anything (and therefore recieves less cycles), if nobody likes it, right? People upvote things if they like them, not if the code is complicated.
Sorry I'm a little late to this debate, but this is a recurring issue, and I thought I would express my opinion.
print(eval(input())) was never cool in the first place and is only funny to people who have a really really bad sense of humor. If people only like terminal games and sarcastic titles, why do anything else? And why do people think sarcastic titles are so funny? I can
say I made an xbox emulator or something with a content of
Cha-Ching and people would think it is funny
Yes! Exactly! Why don't you make a xbox thing? If we you make something that people will find entertaining, people will upvote it. @CSharpIsGud In addition, everybody finds different ideas of what is funny. If you don't like
print(eval(input())), it doesn't mean you can control whether other people decide to upvote it. If you find that people only like terminal games and sarcastic titles, why don't you create some? If you decide not too, that's fine, but don't expect people to like things that you already know they won't like.
So if you don't want to create projects that get hundreds of upvotes, how else are you planning to get hundreds of upvotes. If you're happy with getting a few upvotes on a complicated project, then keep doing what you are currentley doing. If you want to get hunreds of upvotes, then maybe change your strategy. @CSharpIsGud
I accidentally delted everything I was typing, but whatever. The point is, you have no valid points other than "HAHA Look its a wall" isn't funny, so I'm not going to respond to anything else, unless you bring up a valid point, or decide to change your opinion. Thank you, and goodbye!
PS: If you have anything to add @3465728974563, I'll be glad to here your ideas!
OH MY GOSH EVERYONE SHOULD USE THIS, I GOT 100 CYCLES WITH THIS! I CAN NOW BUY A 10000GB SERVER!!!
I think it's funny, because I even looked at the other files and looked at the second page... but I clicked it anyway. Why? I wanted the last bit to be "69". I'm kind of new so I don't even know what cycles is. I was thinking about the rendering engine in Blender when I first clicked onto this. Thank you for this hilarious project!
