The Cactapedia (Cactus Encyclopedia)
h
CodingCactus (2072)

Was originally, just a bit of a joke, but I decided to continue it a bit more, because pretty much anything is better than just sitting around during lock down.

So, here is the beginning of The Cactapedia. I started with doing lots of cacti alphabetically (2), but then decide to just do the ones that I thought looked pretty cool.

Here is @ChezCoder's version of it, with extra JS functionality:
https://Cactapedia.chezcoder.repl.co

Edit: Added Prickly Pear (Opuntia ficus-indica). Suggested by @NoelBryan.
Edit2: Added Cylindropuntia cholla. Suggested by @ipastrano.
Edit3: Added Parodia leninghausii. Suggested by @LizFoster.
Edit4: Added Candelabra Cactus (Myrtillocactus Cochal), Corynopuntia Invicta, Red Torch Cactus (Echinopsis Huascha). Suggested by ME.
Edit5: Added Astrophytum asterias. Suggested by @Warhawk947.
Edit6: Added more readable font option on home page. Suggested by @Nettakrim.
Edit7: Added Golden Barrel (Echinocactus grusonii) and Hedgehog Cactus (Echinocereus engelmannii). Suggested by @IndyCarter.
Edit*: Added Peyote (Lophophora williamsii). Suggested by @DannyIsCoding

Any suggestions for cacti to be added are more than welcome :)

I know of the best type of cacti. The Minecraft Cacti.

CodingCactus (2072)

@NotDotu I really don't like minecraft because in order to get the best colour, you have BURN a CACTUS, which is just wrong!!
:(

NotDotu (9)

@CodingCactus Well, if you burn only ONE cactus, then use the dye on a sheep, you get infinite of the best color!

CodingCactus (2072)

@NotDotu I am still seeing cacti being burnt in that solution :(

MatReiner (93)

@CodingCactus you can get it a different way... i think.

CodingCactus (2072)

@MatReiner really?????
I haven't played minecraft in like 5 years, so I wouldn't know

StudentFires (279)

@CodingCactus Same, but back when I did, I often made fields of cacti to kill zombies or mobs. I was lazy, and cacti was abundant.

StudentFires (279)

@CodingCactus Oh, you admit it, the color of Minecraft cacti is the best color, thus you have to add it to the cactapedia.

CodingCactus (2072)

@StudentFires no, the colour of minecraft cactus dye is the best dye in the game, not in all of life, death and the universe

StudentFires (279)

@CodingCactus Umm, I meant this, but still, it deserves an index in the cactapedia.

CodingCactus (2072)

@StudentFires The cactapedia is sacred, a minecraft cactus is not worthy, It's like worshipping an idol(Christianity thing I think) because they aren't the real cactus

StudentFires (279)

@CodingCactus Do Christians follow the word of Jesus, or the Bible?

The Minecraft cactus can be considered a proxy to the real cacti.

CodingCactus (2072)

@StudentFires ohhh, good point. I'll do one just for you then

StudentFires (279)

@CodingCactus Looking at the HTML, most of these pages are copy and paste, you ought to look into servers and templates, and seeing how you know Python, there have been servers done in Python, for example: Repl user #MatDoesDev (I didn't want to ping him) has a Python server.

StudentFires (279)

@CodingCactus Omg, perfect! Thank you so much!

I don't play Minecraft, and it was kinda a joke... but so is cactapedia itself, so...

CodingCactus (2072)

@StudentFires what does that mean? (comment above comment above)

StudentFires (279)

@CodingCactus I don't understand what your asking.

throw error("incomprehensible English")

StudentFires (279)

@CodingCactus Did you initially write in German? Something along the lines of "Ich nicht verstehe ima"? Usually I prefer showing off that fact that I understand German in person, as there is no chance that I'm using Google Translate.

CodingCactus (2072)

@StudentFires i did, it was a joke
google translate is great

StudentFires (279)

@CodingCactus Well, unfortunately I'm trilingual. But what was obscure in my sentence?

CodingCactus (2072)

@StudentFires I just don't know much about servers and stuff, so i didn't know what you meant

StudentFires (279)

@CodingCactus I meant that you ought to look into how to make a server, as it can be done in Python (Without going through hell and back, like C++).

StudentFires (279)

@CodingCactus Or you can do this on one page using JavaScript and a query string, if you know JavaScript, or learn it.

NotDotu (9)

I didn't realize my comment had so many replies... but thanks for adding the Minecraft Cactus!
