If it is not obvious, repl.it has a severe lack of moderation. The repl.it talk boards are full of trolls and spammers and that quite frankly hurts the reputation of this otherwise lovely site.
I'm sure that the repl.it team is quite aware of this issue, but I have not noticed a decrease in troll posts and general spam. In fact, levels actually seem to be increasing.
My suggestion is to employ more staff. I'm sure there are many trustworthy members on repl.it who would voluntarily moderate repl.it. That includes myself. Please, repl.it team, please increase moderation on repl.it talk.
This issue will not solve itself, and I am merely providing my opinion on a possible solution.
Hey guys, sorry about the lack of communication on this from our side. We've grown a lot in the past 2 months -- more than doubled our monthly active users -- and it's been a struggle on all angles.
I'll make sure this gets more love. In the mean time would love some help in the moderation. @Zavexeon I'll make you a moderator. Who else wants to help?
Although I have been using repl.it for a few months now, I only recently checked out their community pages on repl.it talk. And this is something that I have observed myself.
Apart from this, I have also noticed how an extremely large majority of the posts on the share board are about people building some game. Is there some correlation? Nevertheless, I think repl.it talk could be a lot more interesting if there was more diversity in the projects that people are sharing.
@GavHern I did submit my feedback https://repl.it/feedback/p/repl-talk-needs-proper-spam-filters But I got the impression there wasn't much perception of the volume of spam and distracting content and their negative consequences on the platform. Repl Talk could indeed use some love but Repl.it has a small staff working on many cool projects.
I try to moderate whenever I can (the shrek guy has been banned from repl talk), however I cannot always be here. I can ask some of the other mods about activity on here though, since I'm much more active than they are. Afaik, the repl.it team is working on an improved board system to help cut down on the spam here
