#WEEKLY Challenges: The Comeback!

Happy New Year! this was posted at midnight for me, please forgive if it's too early or late.

Back in October 2020, @TheDrone7 cancelled the #WEEKLY challenges due to lack of participation. I'm not the only one disappointed. So me and @Kookiez made a clone!

How to use this?

Submission

Once you have authenticated, from the front page, you have the option to submit a repl. On the subission interface, you can enter a repl name. Make sure that repl exists!

Challenges start and end every Friday at 00:00 UTC

A rating will appear under the rating tab, once it has been rated.

@ZDev1 Cool! There might be a bug in submissions, if you have submitted please tell me

zplusfour (879)

@firefish I have submitted
check it out!

firefish (937)

@ZDev1 Thanks! BTW, my code worked

firefish (937)

@ZDev1 BTW, the task was to subtract using a 2's complement method?

zplusfour (879)

@firefish oh yess sorry im bad bad

zplusfour (879)

@firefish yeah yeah I forgot sorry

firefish (937)

ok! it's fine! anyway, must have lunch @ZDev1

firefish (937)

@ZDev1 I'l let you finish just because you're first :D

FlaminHotValdez (364)

@firefish YA IK, I have a lot of time but what is 2's complement? I'm too lazy to look it up lol

firefish (937)

@FlaminHotValdez i gave you a wkipedia link lol
ok if you are lazy, it essentially the bitwise not plus 1

TsunamiOrSumth (549)

@firefish i signed up but im too busy to do in rn

firefish (937)

@TsunamiOrSumth ok! you don't need to o it right now, you can do it any time until friday :)

NoNameByProgram (197)

@firefish yeah uh
i'm trying to figure out the challenge lmao

firefish (937)

@NoNameByProgram Well the main bit is: 2's complement is essentially the bitwise not plus 1

NoNameByProgram (197)

@firefish why didn't you say that sooner

firefish (937)

@NoNameByProgram erm bc i'm bad at writing, thinking people would be clever enough to figure it out from wikkipedia... I mean I already knew the methos even I find wikipedia too hard

I just wanted to make it not so easy

EpicGamer007 (1506)

Added to favorites bar

Kookiez (327)

@EpicGamer007 yey :)
(also, @firefish forgot to add that they did %99.99999 percent of the work)

DynamicSquid (4567)

Hey, I think I just finished the latest version of Night. This version should be stable, but I need some help.

Do you happen to know how to use cmake?

I want to make a cmake file that build the entire night project into a single exe file

firefish (937)

@DynamicSquid ok i do :) but windows is sadly not an option as I dualbooted my machine into linux and my windows installation got é-ed in the middle of an update, because GRUB booted into linux upon restart (this happened in early january). so I can build ELF binaries but not exes :/

but cmake remains the same!

firefish (937)

@DynamicSquid Well um... Try using constructs that aren't in C++17.

DynamicSquid (4567)

@firefish Oh, but I have to use C++17, I built my entire language around C++17 :)

DynamicSquid (4567)

@firefish I guess I have to read the documentation :(

firefish (937)

@DynamicSquid as long as I ask google how to install c++17 on fedora i should be fine

firefish (937)

welp just realised that -std=c++17 existed so erm... you stlil have errors
@DynamicSquid

DynamicSquid (4567)

@firefish I fixed it, and it should be updated in the master branch

firefish (937)

@DynamicSquid PErhaps you should define FrontEnd()?

DynamicSquid (4567)

@firefish Yeah, I got that same error too, but I did define it!! If you look in include/front-end/front-end.hpp or something like that, you'll see I did define it!!

DynamicSquid (4567)

@firefish I think it's because you only compiled main.cpp, but you didn't like the other .cpp files

firefish (937)

@DynamicSquid What? Oh ok... I would've thought header files but ok (i have school at the moment so after that i'll try)

Kookiez (327)

well, uh, @firefish can the challenge be related to web dev?

firefish (937)

@Kookiez idk idc just write something

firefish (937)

@Kookiez can you write up a challenge real quick i'm really busy

IntellectualGuy (364)

Updooted, awesome project, and I'll make sure to compete. @firefish @Kookiez

firefish (937)

@IntellectualGuy why does everybody say "updoot" instead of upvote? it's not banned or anything

IntellectualGuy (364)

@firefish Cause it sounds like a meme?

programmeruser (529)

Hi, would you mind reading the comment I posted?

firefish (937)

@programmeruser Answer to your question: yes
Another Question: how on earth did you do that

Kookiez (327)

@firefish did drone ask to join or did you just invite h

NoNameByProgram (197)

question:
what does

you can the 2's complement conversion method on Wikipedia.

mean

firefish (937)

@NoNameByProgram it was meant to be research but ctrl-z can go too far sometimes

NoNameByProgram (197)

@firefish oh. happy new years from canada

JBloves27 (1521)

WOW! Amazing! Nice job replicating it!

Kookiez (327)

@JBYT27 :D @firefish did all the work, i just worked a bit on the frontend

FlaminHotValdez (364)
