[GAME] MULTIPLAYER 3D Survival Game! SNEAK PEEK
fuzzyastrocat (671)

Many games here are 2D, so I thought I'd try my hand at 3D with THREE.js. I'm not done with the game yet, but I thought I'd post a sneak peek so that I can get feedback for it!

As of right now, there's no real goal (you can't win or lose). But you can go around and do stuff. Here's the controls:

  • Arrow Keys or WASD to move
  • Q and E or rightclick+drag to rotate the camera
  • Click and hold to saw stuff (when not placing — you have to be touching an object too)
  • Click on an item in the upper-left to craft it (these items will appear when you have the necessary resources to make them)
  • Click on a item you've crafted in the bottom bar to start placing it (a ghost version of it should appear in front of you, you can move around to position it as you like) and then click again to place it or right click to cancel.
  • NEW: Enter to chat!

As of now, you can build walls (with wood) and campfires (with stone and wood). There's a day and night cycle in place too, so your campfires will look good :D

And yes, this game is fully (server) multiplayer, so you can build a base with others! (Try opening two tabs if there's no one else around)

Enjoy! If you find any bugs or have any suggestions, please post them!

IMPORTANT: If the land is empty at first (no trees, rocks, etc), please let me know! (And then reload the page until it isn't.) I think I've fixed that bug but I'm not certain.

the problem with 3d games is: some browsers can't support it and is very lagged(i have the ofrtuno to no cunt with one f theses) but another persons no

fuzzyastrocat (671)

@Duvangamer3845 Here's the thing: any modern browser should be able to support this. If your browser is supported here then this game should run. If not, you should probably get a new browser since that means your browser is really old.

Duvangamer3845 (116)

@fuzzyastrocat im not talking about it, im talking of the lag, some browser dont have too much memory to run all that code, example, if you run this in a good browser, like chorome, can run without problems, but if you run this in internet explorer, for example, the computer gonna make KABOOM

fuzzyastrocat (671)

@Duvangamer3845 Let me try to clarify what I was saying. The lag is directly related to the code itself. The memory isn't the root of the cause, it's web technologies. Internet explorer is notorious for its lack of modern web technology, so there's a good chance that that is why it's not working for you. I'd highly suggest getting a different browser, since this isn't the only thing that won't work on IE.

Duvangamer3845 (116)

@fuzzyastrocat i dont use ie its onyl an example, im trying to say if i run this game in microsoft edge(one of the most moderns browser) run with lag

fuzzyastrocat (671)

@Duvangamer3845 Well, I'm not sure what to tell you. Very few people report having lots of lag, so it's almost certainly an issue with your system.

Duvangamer3845 (116)

@fuzzyastrocat its because too much people use chorome, one of the most modern browsers, but partof be a excelent developer is be secure to run the project in all the browsers

Duvangamer3845 (116)

@fuzzyastrocat i saw a video of how create a game as a big company, first develop the game, then the test the game in a old system to fix compability probelms, then open a beta, and then the final

fuzzyastrocat (671)

@Duvangamer3845 No, it's the other way around. Bad browsers need to support the standard web technologies. I don't mean modern web technologies, I just mean standard web technologies. In some cases, it's impossible for the developer to support all browsers because older/bad browsers assign different values to certain properties.

I agree that a developer should make it so that all modern browsers are supported, but there's often literally no way to support all browsers since they use outdated web technologies.

And as for that video, it's correct, but it's most likely talking about a downloadable game not a web game.

Duvangamer3845 (116)

@fuzzyastrocat what video? obvioulsy its imposibler to the deeloper in some cases make that,but im talking of make different versions, one for the most old browsers and the most optimized, the modern browsers,i saw too much web game makers make that and get more popularity, example diep.io if you play it in chorome or firefox, can run totally normal,but if you pay it in IE or edge gonna make alert saying "the browser its not optimized, you gonna play a version compatible with your browser",has a little changes like the colors and the stats, but run totally good

fuzzyastrocat (671)

@Duvangamer3845 The video that you talked about in your comment.

Well ok, that's possible, but it's super hard and still might not work for this game (which relies on THREE.js, so I can't change compatibility issues related to that). This game was really just a little pet project of mine and I really didn't expect much from it, so I wasn't thinking of making support for older browsers. And, I still think it's the fault of the browser for not being updated, not the developer.

Duvangamer3845 (116)

@fuzzyastrocat im not saying,"tnhe fault is the developer" i only thing the persons with old naegators, than can not be updated for x or y reason should have more problems with the game, and taking THAT FU**** PERSONS than the thing the lag and the problems are fault of the developer and they gonna be angry with you,the more inteligent persons obviously dont think that, but in this world you need to adapt your projects to more old browsers because

if (browser_compatibility == false){
  persons_with_1_iq = "Angry";
  good_name_of_your_project = false;
}else{
  persons_with_1_iq = "happy";
  good_name_of_you_project = true;
}
